“Bud Light Blues: Top Anheuser-Busch Executive is Stepping Down Amid Sales Plunge

The brewing giant Anheuser-Busch has just announced that their head of marketing, Luis Noé, will be leaving the company after a serious decline in sales of Bud Light. Noé was with the company for over decade and served as the company’s marketing chief since January 2018. At the time of his hiring, Noé was a highly sought after advertising and marketing executive, having previously served as the 1200creative director for Grupo ABC, one of Latin America’s largest communication companies. Noé oversaw Anheuser-Busch’s marketing campaigns. He was in charge of the company’s ongoing Budweiser and Bud Light campaigns, the award-winning “Whassup?” campaign, which won multiple awards over its five-year run, and the “Where’s the Bud?” campaign that used catchy music and recreations of Budweiser’s corporate mascot, Spuds MacKenzie. The recent decline in Bud Light sales, which has been attributed to increased competition, health awareness, and the pandemic, was likely a major factor in Noé’s departure. The company’s demand for their light beer has decreased 10.5% compared to 12 months ago, and Anheuser-Busch hopes to regain lost ground with new marketing initiatives. Anheuser-Busch has yet to name a new head of marketing, and until then the existing marketing team at AB will remain intact. Industry analysts say that the company will likely continue to focus on modernizing their content marketing, as well as creating new campaigns aimed at particular regions of the world. Although Noé’s departure is undoubtedly a loss to Anheuser-Busch, the brewing giant appears to be confident in their ability to stay competitive in the marketplace, even in the face of the recent sales slump. With an experienced and well-trained marketing team, and a willingness to innovate, Anheuser-Busch can look forward to a bright future.
